MRW did excellent work on our condo buildings. We called to have our brick steps repaired, and the concrete foundation patched and painted. They had it all completed and looking beautiful within a week. They are friendly, knowledgeable and their work is top notch. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing any masonry work done.

Patrick and his team are fantastic...professional, reliable, and communicative. I first engaged with Patrick for a basement project in 2022. Although it didn't work out, Patrick left such a strong, positive impression on me that I reached out to him again in 2025 for a 3-part project for our triple decker condo - 1) repoint decrepit chimneys, 2) rebuild front steps, and 3) repoint the garage roof and walls. The chimneys are much better shape now and no longer pose a safety hazard. The front stairs look amazing and get a lot of compliments. Patrick couldn't complete the second chimney at the end of 2025 due to the incoming winter, and were very open about that. We were able to reschedule to the summer of 2026. Overall, they are dependable, are fair and transparent about the pricing, take pride in their work, and are great at customer communication. I'd certainly enlist Patrick's help again on future masonry projects.

MRW repaired and resurfaced the front stairs and walkway of our condo property in the South End of Boston. Patrick and team did a fantastic job and were competitively priced.

Patrick did an impeccable job on our 1908 basement (crumbling stone foundation & semi-finished floor). We picked him from two other competitive bids. He came in on schedule, and on budget. The job entailed prepping and parging the walls, floor demo & prep for laying radiant heat, pouring a new slab (which involved ensuring the cement recipe was right for polishing). He came back in when we asked if he could do some finishing work on the seams between the walls and floor. His team is efficient, they clean up, and the whole crew -- esp Patrick -- is craft proud, which is rare these days. He was communicative from start to finish (with us, and with the other contractors) and professional at all times. He's a gem, and you'll be lucky to work with him. Before and after pics below.

Fantastic work on an old building with hard to source bricks! If you didn’t know work was done, you probably wouldn’t even notice the changes! Feels remarkable for the exterior of a building that is so old! Patrick sourced the right bricks, cut them down to size (smaller bricks used back then), and did a great installation!

Patrick and MRW were recommended to me by a friend. We needed their masonry services to repair a crack in our house's foundation. Once scheduled, the work took only one business day! MRW filled the crack both inside and outside with cement, and installed steel plates to prevent any cracks from re-forming. I was particularly impressed by how carefully and neatly they excavated the spot, addressed the foundation's issues in a secure and aesthetically pleasing way, and replaced the paving stones so you couldn't even tell they had been removed. I would recommend their services, and will think of them if I have any future masonry needs!

We hired MRW Contractors to do some repointing work for our Condo Building, the exterior is all brick. After meeting with a variety of masons and roofers, I couldn’t have been more pleased to meet Patrick. He came recommended by a friend.
From the start, Patrick was incredibly professional—he met with me promptly after our request and took plenty of time to thoroughly assess both the interior and exterior of the building.
We hired him specifically for brick repointing to help mitigate random leaking that had been occurring in multiple areas of the building. With brick it is very challenging to know how the water is getting in, repointing suspicious areas would have to be trial
and error. Patrick gave me confidence he would really try to find the root of the problem in each area.
While we did have to wait about 6–8 weeks to get on his schedule, the timing worked out perfectly for us. His pricing seemed honest and he helped us save a good deal of money (as compared to other bids) by getting us a boom lift vs paying to rent scaffolding.
Overall, Patrick delivered excellent service, was easy to work with, and helped us make thoughtful, informed decisions. We highly recommend him for any masonry needs

Excellent experience! I have an older home with a fieldstone foundation needing some attention. Solid and trustworthy masonry company. They helped repair my stone foundation basement as I was having a spot that was leaking water after rain storms. Patrick gave me options on how he can fix the issue depending on my budget. I chose the more long term fix by having them repair the outside and inside wall of the foundation. Their prices are very reasonable but you do have to wait since he is busy with other customers but will try his best to fit you in. He is worth it.

We needed to repoint a section of our Charlestown condo, and repair 1 small section near our roof, and 2 areas around 2 windows. After doing great work on our french drains, we called Patrick and he gave us a fair quote compared to other masonry companies we spoke with. Him and his guys came out and got the work done in under a week, and did a stellar job. We used to have severe leaks coming in from one of the windows after any big rain storm. Patrick was honest right from the start, giving me an education on why it could be happening. What was needed and what wasn't. His crew were super nice guys that had no problem answering an questions I had. They repointed the exterior of the basement where the water was coming in and repointed around our bulkhead and laid down some concrete around the bulkhead. They also dug a couple trenches to guide the water away from the house. It all came out great and we haven't had any issues even with all the rain we've gotten since the work was done. I was very fortunate to find MRW on the web and I am glad I did. My basement wall need to be repointed, stairs repointed and an outside concrete pathway replaced. When I contacted MRW Patrick came out and was very professional, honest and straightforward. He suggested I install gutter extensions which I did and that alleviated the water from seeping in and was a great fix but I still needed the basement fixed. Then he was honest and explained that he had many jobs lined up and that my job request would not be started for another 3 months. It is a positive sign when a contractor is that busy and it means their services are in demand. I was fortunate enough that I received a call stating another job would be delayed and that they could start my job the next day only after 45 days after I contacted them. We contacted MRW due to water pooling in our older field stone basement during rainstorms. Patrick promptly conducted a consultation and suggested a two-part solution involving exterior leveling of the patio pavers to prevent water entry and interior installation of a basement floor drain. Opting for the exterior approach first, per Patrick's recommendation, the work was completed well ahead of schedule by his team. Their strong communication and precise execution resolved the issue, we haven’t had water pool in our basement since. We will definitely reach out to Patrick for future basement needs.

I can’t stress enough how happy I am with the work that Patrick and his team did. About 10 feet of the stone foundation on my house I recently bought was crumbling above ground. I hired another contractor who did such a terrible job. That person removed the stones and filled in the hole with brick and concrete. It looked terrible and there were holes everywhere. Patrick was able to remove the mess the other contractor made and built the foundation back up with stone. This was such an amazing relief. The work they did looks great and it blends in with the rest of the foundation. In addition, they went above and beyond- They filled in around my water pipe and filled in a small hole I could see some daylight coming in, which wasn’t part of the initial scope. They also repointed some other areas that looked like they could use it. And they even repointed another repair job someone in the past used spray foam to fix.

I am a trustee of a two-unit condo in the South End of Boston. The mechanical room located in the basement of our building was experiencing water infiltration because of masonry failures. Patrick and his crew did an outstanding job repairing the joints in our outside masonry stairs. It turned out to be a more complicated job when the water infiltration persisted. Patrick promptly returned to the job and corrected a problem that was located 3’ under the sidewalk. We now have a dry mechanical room. Patrick is an all-around great guy, very diligent and does what he says he is going to do. A few months before he did this work, he was very busy and let us know that he was unable to do the job in a reasonable amount of time. He did not ghost us as many others did. Later on he was available for the job and did the work promptly. We are in the process of using him again for other masonry work.

We needed one entire small chimney repointed, and part of a large chimney, plus an adjoining wall and small bits around the house. They did a thorough job of deep grinding the joints, applying new mortar, and acid washing, and also did a great job of putting up scaffolding and protecting our slate roof. Patrick even repaired a roof slate that had slipped out of place near one of the chimneys. I really appreciated that they worked their way around the house and were very thorough in fixing all the spots that needed it. Excellent cleanup after the job, too. I searched for a very long time for a mason to resolve some water issues in an addition to a South End brownstone. Patrick was exceptionally professional and responsive. The job ended up being much larger than expected, and he was able to use his professional resources to recommend additional work to fix our issue. He made sure that the job was done to perfection, and even came back for some touch-up work himself. I am very happy with the work that was completed. Very professional and honest; fair pricing. We had several foundation cracks that Patrick and his team sealed for us in December 2020. One of them was near a gas line and required some digging, so we were a little nervous about the repair. But MRW did a fantastic job. Plus, the final cost turned out to be lower than the estimate -- a rare occurrence these days. I hired Pat to seal some expansion cracks and stucco the foundation on my home in Boston. I found the original foundation unsitely and the original paint was beginning to flake. I talked to Pat Thursday and he was there Saturday. From the foundation down it looks like a brand new home. He was also able to level out a sidewalk for me where water had been pooling for years. Extremely impressed and a fraction of the price I was quoted by other masons. My neighbors were so impressed they hired him to do the same. Will be recommending and calling again if needed.

The guys from MRW did a great job infilling two glass block basement windows and fixing up a brick pier supporting our balconies. They went above and beyond in putting everything back to how it was to get at the pier. They’re also just nice guys to work with.

His crew also on direct contract poured the foundation we needed for our garden shed and later came out to re-point some of the granite foundation to make things truly water tight. We hired Patrick to seal our foundation due to water coming into our basement unit. He sealed the foundation and also built a retaining wall for the patio. He did an outstanding job, we are so impressed with the timeline, quality of work. He is overall trustworthy and easy to work with. He gets the job done. Patrick's crew repointed a slate walkway dating probably from the 1950s. Patrick was good at communicating from beginning to end. The work was completed according to the schedule that was set. The crew drilled out the concrete before re-cementing. At the end of the job I thought additional concrete should have been added along one edge where slate was exposed. The additional concrete was added as suggested. The walkway is looking good.

We recently bought a 100 year old brick house in Needham and the brickwork was in bad shape. Patrick and his crew repointed the house and replaced 4 lintels. I had other companies come over to give me estimates and Patrick was the only one who honestly told me which lintels needed to be replaced and which still had life left in them. Other companies tried to get me to replace most of them, which is extremely expensive. It is clear that Patrick knows a lot about masonry. Patrick and his crew did a great job, they were always on time, keep the work area tidy, and Patrick is a very good communicator. My husband can be a bit of a perfectionist and Patrick was very patient and willing to make sure we loved every detail. MRW also repaired some of our old stone walls (which was a last minute add-on) and did it in a timely manner. Overall, we are very happy with MRW. Pattrick and his crew fixed a years-long leak problem in my brick chimney and waterproof painted to match new siding. Great job done. Nice and professional guys. Would 100% recommend and use his service again.

I had Patrick and his crew replace lintels on 5 windows that were in a bad shape. Those were the original to the property and at almost 80 years old. From start to finish and during the entire project Patrick was excellent at communicating what the next steps were. He was also easy to reach and was very proactive with calling and/or texting in advance. He and the crew always showed up on time and did a fabulous job. Lintel extraction and replacement is a tricky job that requires precision and craftsmanship. Raul who also worked on the project was outstanding. I was really impressed with how skilled he was at removing the bricks and being careful to not damaging the windows, which I just had recently replaced. After the project was complete the bricks had to dry for 10 days before being washed. Having seen how skillful and careful Patrick and team were I have decided to used them for few other projects in the coming months. Could not be more satisfied.

I can't say enough about the honesty and truthfulness of this man! I contacted Patrick to take a look at a job and give us a quote. It was a leak in the basement, water was coming through front staircase. He visited twice, and gave us two different estimates, one for a complete repair and one for a re-pointing and a quick fix. I wanted to give him a check for his time but he didn't take it. He spent at least two half days to check the work but he refused to take the check that I was willing to write for his time! We've worked with Patrick and his team for two projects and will do so for another once the weather warms up. The first was a few years ago when after a heavy rain storm water was coming into out basement. His team busted up the steps leading to our basement to rebuild and add drainage in so it doesn't pool up. We haven't had water in the basement since. The most recent project was repointing the interior of our basement (outside will be in the spring/summer) the work that Fransisco did was amazing. Always punctual showing up at least 15 minutes prior to the arrival time and meticulous in the effort of prepping and cleaning up the space you can tell the pride he personally takes in this effort. Both Patrick and Fransisco loved our dog and didn't mind him sniffing around what they were doing either.

Called MRW this past winter for an estimate for repointing the brick exterior, a cracked lintel replacement and a chimney rebuild for our historic home in Beacon Hill. Patrick the owner provided a well priced proposal for the spring. We scheduled a start date in May, he called a week in advance to confirm we were ready and showed up as promised. The on street scaffolding protected pedestrians, was well marked with safety tape etc.. Each day the work area was swept clean and the job proceeded to completion without interruption. The attention to detail including matching replaced stone and antique brick was what we had hoped for. After completion the final wash brought out the beauty of the 200 year old brick. Could not be more pleased with the work that was done for us by MRW. Patrick and his assistant are true craftsman of their trade.

Patrick came out swiftly when requested for a quote. We had a few contractors tell us we needed to replace the entire foundation of our house for $20k or more! Patrick shared that would not be necessary and some parging should hold us in good shape for the next 10-20 years. Job was well done as reviewed by another outside, non-related contractor (not just my civilian take) and they came on the weekends for a small up-charge that I suggested in order to meet the tight timeline we had. The house is now fully presentable with new Granite Stair, Stone veneers and retaining wall repairs. We have received a ton of compliments. Also, in conclusion, this is the 1st time a contractor did not start 1 day and disappear for weeks before returning to complete the job. Everything was done in a professional and timely manner, all the existing trades should pull from the same playbook.

We interviewed several contractors to repair our long, neglected foundation in Brookline--both inside our basement and outside the home itself. All of the contractors were knowledgeable, so our hire was based on the integrity with which Patrick talked about his work and his reasonable pricing. It was clear that he understood and respected the nuances of the job—and also that it was important to him that his crew does excellent work. He communicated well about the schedule, and his team worked methodically through an extensive, detail-oriented repointing of our old stone foundation. To my surprise, they cleaned up after themselves in a way that contractors seldom do. I paid him when the work appeared done to me. After that, he sent his crew by one more time for a final round of cleaning. That’s integrity. I showed the finished work to my neighbor, who hired MRW as well. Thanks, Patrick!

If you're looking for someone to repoint your historic townhouse (or any townhouse) Patrick is the one you should call! When we asked people to come to look at the work for a quote, I would ask them what kind of cement they would use. (Old brick needs a softer sand-based cement so as not to damage old brick and ruin your building.) Patrick was the only contractor who seemed aware of this. Reasonable prices too!

They did chimney work. The work that he did can be very dirty and dusty, but he was very neat and clean. There wasn't a single spec of dirt anywhere.

Patrick was so helpful throughout the process, until we finally were able to be water-free. He helped us through every step of the way, was very accessible whenever we needed him and the work was all done in a timely, professional way.
